Good or Bad Build?

Is this a good system for gaming? I would like to know if I would see significant increase in performance from a Core 2 duo T9600 laptop with an ATI 4670 HD graphics card with 4gb RAM? I know that there should be a performance increase, but I tried a Vidock, and it did not work at all.

I generally play games such as GTA IV on Max settings except for resolution which is 1600x900, I also play TDU2, C&C, and I would like to play games like Just Cause 2, Crysis 1+2, GTA V, Far Cry 2, and possibly Battlefield 3. Also my friend wants to know if a computer like this could run the sims 3 with all the expansions and what not.

My final question is whether or not I should wait for ivy bridge. Thanks for your responses and help

You have more than necessary for what you want to run. @ 1600x900 even a 6850 would probably max out on all those games.

Honestly for gaming, you wouldn't even notice the difference from the i5 to the i7. The $100 is honestly not justified. Specially since that money can be used towards the GPU. The GTX 560 is not exactly the best card you could be getting.
Also since you plan to overclock, I'm assuming as you have a HSF, the i5 3570K (IB version of i5 2500K) would be easily able to surpass the i7's performance in gaming.

Intel build = It's BAD = for bad boys only who wants extreme performance
(no amd vs intel here, just wrote like a pun or something, and I love both amd and intel as they make stuff I can never create >.< so got no right to diss either although I got some cash but compare it to AMD it's like a kindergarden kids allowance. what more if you compare it to intel's it's like a beggars bottle with .50 cents on it.)

A friend of mine runs amd phenom IIx4 960T (failed to unlock lol)
low end mobo
2x2gb ram
IDE hard disk 80gb for boot/os
300gb sata for storage
250gb sata for storage
hec raptorII 500W (so far no problem but I won't call it quality)
Sapphire hd 6850

so far if this system can run bf3 at playable fps on 1366x6-- or 7-- (forgot the last resolution) was great at 40fps on low mixed with mid

and since TS here got a better system I'm sure he would be rocked hard by the performance he get at 1600x resolution.

I'm a little lost why you brought up AMD or Intel build as OP wasn't planning on AMD.

Also, I'm going to just say that I don't understand how he's getting lower frams than me when I had a 955. I was running a 5850 with a 955 @ 3.6ghz (not even that much of an overclock) and it managed a solid 60 FPS @ High settings @ 1680x1050 so I think your friend is having some issues or something.

Another option would be getting used 6950 from ebay. I snatched one for $185 If you can pulled that off you can play all games on high at 1080 with your set up

I want an i7, there is only a $60 dollar difference at the store, I will buy it from, to the i5, so why not?
I already have the gtx 560, and I can't afford any other card, this build is above my limit already.
I don't want to spend 1200 dollars to play @ 1600X900 when my current dual core already does that with a 4670.
1920X1080 is preferred.

All i wanted to know is if I can play games at high with 1920X1080 with the current set-up.
Also some games do support hypertheading, so it is not a complete waste. Certainly future games will be up to par too.
Like GTA V maybe

Well it's your choice. You're better off going i5 saving that $60 and using it on the GPU. The 7850 would give you a huge boost and especially allow you to overclock it to the performance of a GTX 580 easily.

I cannot afford another card as I have previously stated, as I have already reached my max budget with the build, and I already have a gtx560. Why would I go in debt to buy another card and throw away the gtx560? Is this card really that bad?
I was going to OC it from 850 to 950 or 1000mhz since it has the DCUII cooling system. Maybe I am 100% wrong, but I thought the gtx560 had some hp, especially 2 if the day ever comes.

560 bearly hangs with a 6870.
Not really a mega gpu, but it is capable with most games at medium-high.

Dang well that sucks, would it just be better to wait a few more years when I have more money to spend and just stick it out with my laptop for now?

No, the 560 is not THAT bad. It's pretty darn decent and the GTX 560 trades blows with the 6870 it all strongly depends on the game. Generally though, averaged out the GTX 560 roughly wins out by 5%. The 560 can also overclock a little better.

OK thanks, I want to buy a computer soon, but it would be like me to try to buy one nearing finals, so that's why I have not had a lot a patients. I am not trying to max out any game, I was just hoping to play games in HD and to just have some fun this summer!
