Question Good pc but horrible fps?

I have horrible performance in all games ( even on low settings) and I need advice please.
I currently have a dell inspiron 15 7000 gaming laptop with the following specs:
Motherboard: Dell inspiron 15 (7577)
CPU: i7-7700HQ @2.8GHz
GPU : Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050TI
RAM : 16GB DDR4

Well for a general response my average frames in valley benchmark was 33 and resulted in my gpu reaching a temperature of 84 degrees celsius.

yeah I've put it on ultimate performance for a while now( my power options doesn't have an option for high performance).

Well, looks like the average FPS for a desktop 1050 Ti on Unigine Valley is around 40. Considering that this is a mobile 1050 Ti, I wouldn´t expect more than your results. What settings did you run the benchmark at?

In that case, 33FPS is about what I would expect from the mobile card.

the problem more comes when I'm gaming ( for example I get consistent <100 fps in fortnite) and after about 15 minutes of playing my laptop overheats and my frames start stuttering.

What temperature is your CPU getting to? It might be the CPU, rather than the GPU that's throttling.
