Hello pals, is hoorhay again with quicky question

Trying to get many upgrade for friend very outdated tower

he current rig spec are

core 2 extreme QX9650
4GB DDR3
Gigabyte GA-G41MT-S2PT
GTX 480
600 watt kingwin
2x 250GB HDD

I look him for cheap upgrade to make play smooth again like time before. Find this

Intel Core I5 650 Processor
Radeon R5770 Graphics Card
16gb (4x4gb) Gskill Ripjawz DDR3 Dual Channel Ram Memory
1tb Hard Drive
250gb Secondary Hard Drive
DVD Burner/CD Burner Drive LG
Corsair CX750 Power Supply

$300

seems me like cheap option. New he upgrades cost us 400-500. And he less ram at end. We not use this cheap gpu that come with. We go for crossfire 270X. Parts buy come with case too, not sure what. Also mobo, is asus something has 2x pcie x16

what say? Parts gotten worth $300?

QX9650 is still a pretty good processor. (So is a GTX480, but those things are power hungry monsters) I5 650 would be a slight downgrade.

Just buy a new GPU and double the system memory and he should be good to go.

$300 would get you a GTX760 and another pair of 2GB DDR3 sticks. Or for 500 a GTX970 and the memory. CPU and motherboard can always be upgraded at a later date.

Solution
big waste of money on a rebuild. that rebuild anyways.

you didn't mention what operating system or what monitor resolution or what games are being played.

depending on that............. suggestions can be made.

but the machine is beyond the brink of being cpu bound to an extent on certain newer games and gpu bound on newer games.
