Good PS CS6-configuration

Solution
editing pictures is not too demanding
you can do that with g3258, gtx 650 & 8Gbram

that was last year, i have a g2030, palit gt 630 and 8gb ram now and still kicking on PS
im planning to build a new one, look at my rig (hover your mouse in my profile pic)

it depends on you, you didnt answer my question. if you are using a PS only, stick with
1.) i3 or g3258 with atleast gtx 650 or HD7790 or R7 260 and a 8GB of ram

but if you are into 3d also get
2.)i5 or FX 8*** with gtx 760 or R9 270x with 8Gb of ram and get a SSD

and if you are advance you can go with
3.)XEON/i7 k
with GTX Titan or Quadro k2000 and 16Gb of ram

if you are totally professional at any multi media, digital art ,VFX etc.
4.)XEON/i7 k with Quadro k4000 and 32Gb...

1500$ would be OK, but the cheaper the better, of course ;-)

what do you think about i7 4770K (Haswell) with Intel HD Graphics 4600? underpowered? I'm not very experienced with PS, the computer not for me...

http://forum.runtimedna.com/showthread.php?73553-Best-Gfx-card-for-OpenGL-rendering says get lots of CUDA cores eg GTX 780

So try -

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($339.99 @ Newegg)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($24.99 @ Newegg)

Total: $1503.70

i got a bit of advice
quadro and firepro are only for Extreme Graphic Rendering

im a freelancer i do all graphic designs, digital painting and photo editing on my Intel Pentium G2030 without a gfx card, im using its IGP only, for a year i dont having any problem on it. (my average reso is 2,000 x 2,000 pixel with 300 pixel per inch)
for PS you just need a good processors and atleast 4gb RAM
but if you are planning for big resolutions or using any plugins you need an i5 or FX8350 or upper proc
and get atleast gtx 650 or beyond and lastly 8Gb of ram

*what will you do on photoshop?
*are using only PS?
*are you planning to use other software such as Adobe After Effects, Artrage, Corel, Gimp, Paint tool sai and even 3D like maya, 3ds Max, softimage, blender and poser ?

editing photos, most of all. Creating panoramas, cut pictures, remove shaddows and ugly spots, add filters, whatever to improve the picture ;-)

Why are you using no gfx card? Is there no benefit or did you have to save money?

What do you recommend, if I would buy an extra gfx card? Better to buy a xeon or a i5/i7?

You said "at least" gtx650.... can you recommend a card, if the budget would allow me to buy a more expensive card and I want to be sure the computer would be still fast enough after 2 years?

thank you very much for your help

*what another software will you use?
*what is you job?
*what is your maximum pixel on your work?

remember you almost cant see the diferrence of i5 gtx 760 VS i7 GTX Titan when it comes on editting photo at a normal/average reso, you can only notify it when its rendering for a hundred thousand x hundred thousand pixel with a thousand DPI .... and i dont imagine you are photo editing for a billboard, and i dont know if CS 6 doesnt support that much pixel

only Photoshop and similiar, no 3d or video.

I'm IT supporter, but the computer is not for me and photography is only a hobby of the user, not her profession

maximum resolution is 6000 x 4000 pixels.

Is there no benefit to use i7/xeon and gtx760/r9 270x without 3d?

but if you insist your budget here it is

CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz
Motherboard: Asus Z87-PRO ATX LGA1150
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws Z Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR3-1866
System Storage: Samsung 840 Pro Series 128GB 2.5" SSD
Storage: Western Digital Black Series 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM HDD
Video Card: ASUS GTX760-DC2OC-2GD5 GeForce GTX 760 2GB
Case: Fractal Design Define XL R2 (Black Pearl) ATX Full Tower Case
Power Supply: SeaSonic X Series 850W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular
Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional SP1 (OEM) (64-bit)

just remember its overkill in what you need, but i think you are into heavy gaming also, if its. this is what you need

thank you for your example configuation. unfortunately there are some must haves which are not covered in your configuration: RAID and Cardreader, plus the case should be not black and have no "door".

ASUS H97 PLUS would have a RAID-Controller included and the case I mentioned would cover all needs. Is there a reason for you to not chose them?

Including a second HDD, a USB3-Controller-card, bigger SSD and so on, your price was too high, so I had to modify your example to one what's very similiar to my first post... (prices in Switzerland are higher than in US) :S

Case: white
PowerSupply: 650W Gold
Mainboard: ASUS H97 PLUS
CPU: i7 4770
video adapter: GTX 760
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB
HDD: 1TB WD Blue (2x)
SSD: 250GB Samsung 840 evo
Cardreader: Icy Box IB-867 5.25"
USB-Controller: to connect USB3 from case as well as USB3+cardreader from Icy box
DVD and 2.5"-to-3.5"-ssd-frame: any

I was looking for products available in Switzerland, not on linked sites...

*would this configuration fit?
*would a better CPU-cooler or additional case-fans be required?
