good PSU buy?

More often than not, the 550W version will suffice for most single-GPU PC setups. However, since the price of the 650W version you linked is lower than the 550W, the former is a good buy, esp. if you intend to overclock and/or add more powerful components in your rig in the future.

If you don't intend to OC or add any GPU, then, you don't need to spend $60-$80 for such 650W PSU.

From the parts you listed, and still considering a solid PSU for longevity/reliability, the Corsair CX450M, at $35, would be way more than enough for your needs:

The reason I recommand this is because:

1) the 750w version is somewhow cheaper than the 650w and 550w version? and the psu will only deliver the power the pc needs

2) this is a smaller unit than the psu john recommanded and fully moduler, this will be a blessing to work with especially in small cases like that.

3) I know this is not needed for your pc but its overkill, more efficient and a 10 year warranty.

Just chipping in to say that 750W is extremely overkill for a lone Celeron CPU... 450W would be the max I'd go 😛

I just fear that your power draw will be so low, the big PSU won't get into the region where it gets efficient (above 20% load, optimal at 50%). That region would be from 150W to 375W, and your build will most definitely stay below 200W even when everything's under full load (the Celeron draws less than 15W afaik).

A Super Flower Golden Green HX 350W would become reasonably efficient at 70W at reach it's peak efficiency at around 175W, so I think this would be perfect for you use case. Of course, that would mean you get less W/$, but I think in this special case this sacrifice would be worth it 😉

right i never thought of the whole omptial range of wattage where it kicks in and how much power i will be using, but yeah less is more. thats only avalabe in the uk 🙁 i'll look for one that fully modular.

I actually didn't read a review beforehand, I just went by some general values from experience. Truth be told, at 75W, the difference in efficiency is negligible. Only if you look at power draws below that (which may well happen often enough, depending on what the PC is to be used for), the 350W HX is a clear winner, thanks to similar efficiency levels at loads lower than 75W.
Price's less than 60€/50GBP - couldn't find a US price quickly due to Google only showing me EU results since I live in the EU :/
