Hi guys,

A friend of mine will be running this setup and he is on a low budget for PSU..

His Rig:
i5 4670
ASRock Z87 Extreme3
sapphire r9 270x dualx
4gb Corsair Ven.

U can see that he bought a non k cpu for that mobo..kinda stupid and he wont be overclocking nor he will CF..

so will corsair VS550 suffice his needs?
I heard its bad for such conf and all..
btw i used this site.
http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine
and total comes to 444w

The VS series is okay for the short term, but i would look to replace it ASAP when you have the budget. The XFX 550W TS is a good one to aim for if on a budget.

Not overclocked or Crossfiring won't get you near 444w. That system will run about 300w max, probably closer to 275w max.

The VS and CX are cheaper built power supplies, yes. I wouldn't recommend them for new systems for people planning to overclock at all. But for a mid-range system like listed above, the VS550 or CX500 would be sufficient. A better power supply would be recommended, but not immediately necessary.

I agree, the CX and VS are a bit on the cheap side. They used to be the only real cheaper options, but try these 2 out.

I've had the antec 450w running in my budget build for 3 years and it's pretty quiet to :)
The EVGA is a new recommended one I see for budget builds. It's good quality to like the antec.

I'd rather spend $5-10 more on a good PSU than take any risk. You can google the CX series for problems if you want :p

The VP 450 is a superb PSU, but not for the build above. It runs the CPU/Mothebroard/etc. off of one rail, and the GPU off the second rail due to only having a single PCIe connector. As the 270x requires 2 connectors, you would need adapters, and you may run into problems with current spikes. The 500B from EVGA linked above would be a good budget PSU, though I would go with an Antec if available:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

Power Supply: Antec Neo Eco 520W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply ($44.99 @ NCIX US)
Total: $44.99
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

will Antec VP450P suffice for the rig?
I saw that sapphire r9 270x 2gb dual-x requires only 1 6pin power connector
its available for cheap price.

Guys please have a look below...
these are the PSUs available in budget..
1)Antec VP550 550 Watts PSU
2)Antec VP450P I 450 Watts PSU
3)Seasonic ECO 500 500 Watts PSU
4)Deepcool DA500 80+ Bronze Certified 500 Watts PSU
5)Corsair CX500 500 Watts PSU
6)Cooler Master Thunder 500W 500 Watts PSU
7)Corsair VS550 550 Watt PSU

I'm thinking to go for Seasonic ECO 500w..

The CX/VS and the Cooler Master are the worst of the bunch.

Good catch on the VP450, it seems you are right about the 1 6pin connector :)

Your GPU should only use 142w at peak
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-750-ti-review,3750-21.html

Your CPU is 84 watts
http://ark.intel.com/products/75047/Intel-Core-i5-4670-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_80-GHz

a 450w will be enough as long as you don't overclock ram/gpu.

I have had the VP450 in my budget build for 3 years now and it runs pretty quiet for such a cheap PSU.
Which ever of the listed you can find cheapest

Edit: totally forgot about this one...It's on sale right now
