Hi,
I'm currently looking into getting a server PC for around £800-1000 of my project money (it's for a file hosting website).
Not much space is necessary as Amazon S3 will be used for the actual file hosting as I've heard it's faster, more secure and works out cheaper.
The site will be a Ruby on Rails system running on the machine and although will not start with many views, this server should be able to account for a LOT of views.
I've been looking around the web for stuff and I've been thinking about the following:
ASUS P6X58D-E Motherboard, Xeon L5630 Processor, 4GB ram, 2TB Hard drive
How well do you think this will perform? Will it live up to my high expectations?
Also - what other components will I need? (Do CPU fans usually come with the motherboard or CPU?)
I've never made my own computer before so this is a bit of a ride for me and I'll probably be asking Tom's Hardware for a lot of help throughout - however for now I'm just going to worry about getting the right components.
Thanks,
Joe
