Unless you intend to CrossFire or SLI, a PSU rated at 500-600W would be sufficient.

I agree with the recommendation for a 2500K. It offers nearly as much performance as the 2600K for about $100 less. That $100 savings covers the cost of Windows.

There are less expensive CPU HS/Fan coolers available that perform as well or better than the CM V8. Have a look over Frostytech's Top-10, as well as their individual cooler reviews. Plenty of Xigmatek coolers and CM's own Hyper 212+ come to mind.

You could also save a few bucks (almost $30) electing to use 1600MHz RAM instead of 1866. You would have to use XMP profiles to get into those speeds anyway, and many 1600MHz modules have slightly tighter CAS timings than 1800+ ones, often negating the MHz advantage. Tom's did a few reviews comparing the two, but I can't find 'em presently. I simply remember the summary conclusion that CAS-7 DDR3-1600 was outperforming CAS-9 DDR3-1866/2000.

You could skip the MS Office suite (though the student pricing is decent) and use OpenOffice instead.

If purchasing from Newegg, always remember to look at their Combo offerings. You may find you can save an additional $10-$30 selecting one.

You can save some money selecting a different case. The antec 300 is a great case for only 60$ and it looks nice too. For an extra 10 you can get the illusions and have it decked out in blue led's

^ A 580? I believe that to be a waste of money... A 580 is to a 570 what a 2500K CPU is to the 2600K. The performance difference just isn't enough to justify the cost difference.

Also, self-contained water coolers (like the Corsair H50/60/70) perform no better (and sometimes worse) than a $35 CM Hyper212+ or Xigmatek HDT1283/1284 cooler, but cost significantly more.
