Good tracking device for a desktop computer?

I may end up spending a few thousand dollars on a computer sometime in the future, about as much as a low end car; but much easier to steal. I'd really like to know about a battery powered tracking device that could maybe plug into the power supply to recharge that would be ideal for my hopeful future situation. I know that there's a handful or tracking apps for computers but my best guess is that they'd only work when the computer is on, which isn't enough for me.

This perhaps...? You could have it connected to teh internals of your machine with an internal USB2.0 header and set it as per instructions.

There may be more suggestions available though.
