I'm sure this has been asked, and already five years too late, but I'm looking to upgrade my system with a few components that would enable me to run a game like the witcher3 until I can do a full rebuild. I am hoping to use the added components - vid card and added ram - in my eventual new rig. My current cpu is a i7920 o'c'd to 4.0ghz, with only 6gb ddr3 and using an hd5850. Since my cpu is o'c'd to 4 ghz, i was thinking about increasing the ram to 12gb, and replacing the vid. card with a gtx970.
I know the game isn't released yet, but do you think this system would handle a game like the Witcher3? Also, is the 970 a good enough card to last a few years when I eventually build a newer generation cpu based system? Thanks for any replies.
