I previously used a TP-LINK WN727N for my Wi-Fi adapter, and it was extremely slow, and there was a lot of lag during gaming, hence I would like to upgrade my adapter. PCI cards are out, the antennas would receive extremely low signal, if any at all, as my PC is on the floor, facing the wall. Was considering the Asus AC68 because of the extension wires for the antennas but was very costly and the wires were barely even long enough.

Therefore, what are the best USB adapters out there now? Looking for something around 50 dollars to 70 dollars.

So far I'm thinking of the TP-LINK Archer T4U, or the Asus AC56, but I'm not sure how well they perform, would be greatly appreciated if someone gave a short review on how well they perform.

there are quite a few out there but for gaming I would make sure your router is whats good before getting a card, as the router will limit the card if you go big and have good wlan speeds.

A great WIFI adapterThis one has an extendable antenna so you can place it ontop your desk, aswell as very good signal strength. this is another good way if you can avoid the 2.4gh/5ghz very good

Also i know it was out of your price range, but you really cant beat the quality of an adapter. A cheap adapter will fail on you, slow down, trust me, you do not want a cheap adapter. Spend money on one, Or if you can just install some antennas on a cheaper one using extensions,.

I assume you are running your current adapter on a USB extension cable since it has similar issue to the PCI antenna.

It depends what your issue is. If you have weak signal levels a different adapter may not make a large difference. You are currently using the 2.4g band which generally has more coverage and signal levels in most houses. In general the 5g band on the newer adapters you propose will likely get less signal levels but this is impossible to predict since how your house is built is what determines this.

Now if your issue is you have good signal levels but you have lots of interference from neighbors then going to the 5g band may help because it give you more radio channels to choose from. Your router must also support the 5g band. You may though have just as much interference on the 5g band

Maybe consider powerline networks instead of wireless

For some reason powerlines dont work in my house, I've tried it with 2 different sets of them, but they all start off well and then stop receiving any signal from the router.

As for the PCI cards, I might consider that in the future as my current budget is extremely tight, so unfortunately I cant get a PCI adapter.

For 5GHz band, i can receive the signal from my router through my phone at a decent signal level, so i doubt that would pose a problem. The only thing im looking for now is the best USB adapter I can get for below 70 dollars.

Thanks in advance.
