Question Google Chrome hogs my internet bandwidth

Monitoring it through Internet Status, it's eating data. I reset the data usage in Internet Status when my internet bandwidth was recharged, it was at 1MB usage, then I ran a 480P video for 45 seconds, 9MB usage, then I did nothing for a few seconds, didn't load or download anything, I had no extensions but adblock and even after removing it I still have the issue. so after those seconds, I open up the usage page and it's suddenly used 197MB, and even when I'm not doing anything, it keeps eating data then it reached over 300MB, then it reset back to 197MB and it's going up again. what confirms for me that this isn't an interface bug is that my internet is actually getting consumed

login to google account? have the continue running background thing set to on? try incognito mode?

malware scan your system?

When Chrome is seemingly idle, open its Task Manager (three little dots top-right -> More Tools) then look in the "Network" column. That'll show you any tabs or extensions that are eating into your bandwidth.
