Hi!

Lately i've been recognized a problem in my chrome browser

when there is a ANY tab which have a video on it like youtube or netflix when i'm pressing spacebar the video stops.

the problem is the video stops/starts even when the tab is minimized.

for example if i play in youtube song and play in the same time any videogame the video will stop/start when i will press spacebar.

I explored all the internet and i didn't saw nobody that have the same problem

i've tried to reinstall chrome, deleted cokies and any browser history, and restarted the pc. What's weird is right now i'm using firefox and there is no problem at all so the problem it's not in the keyboard either.

i'll glad to get some help

thank you:)

Spacebar is meant to pause Youtube videos in chrome. Does the same in firefox, but it shouldn't pause when app is minimised - and my PC, it doesn't for either.

Chrome now supports the play/pause button on Keyboard so it could be a side effect of that - https://www.engadget.com/2019/02/08/google-chrome-73-multimedia-key-support/

Here’s where things get messy: YouTube uses different shortcuts depending on how you’ve interacted with the page. YouTube essentially has three “modes”: Page Focused mode (1) is when you are watching a video on YouTube but you have not directly interacted with the video player. Player Focused mode (2) becomes enabled when you click one of the controls on the player. As you’d expect, Full Screen mode (3) is activated when you full screen the video.

Page Focused mode is the most limited mode for shortcuts, as to not interfere with normal browser controls. (That’s why spacebar jumps down the page instead of pausing the video). Full Screen mode and Player Focused mode can utilize YouTube’s full range of shortcuts.

Unfortunately, YouTube doesn’t make it easy to discover the various shortcuts, or even indicate which mode you’re in. But we have you covered.

look at tables at bottom of this link: https://www.howtogeek.com/243362/solve-youtubes-spacebar-problem-with-these-keyboard-shortcuts/

it doesn't explain why it happens in minimized state but if chrome running on screen behind game, those commands could still exist.

HAve you tried resetting chrome? https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/3296214?hl=en
