Chrome is having sporadic issues where it fails to load any web pages. When I try to load a page chrome displays nothing while the loading circle is spinning in the top left corner (appears its attempting to display the page). Then after a decent wait I get the pop-up that says page unresponsive with the option to kill page or wait.

I've run multiple full scans with malwarebytes to check for viruses but it has not found anything. I also tried reinstalling chrome which only seems to fix the issue for a month. Clearing browser data also doesn't seem to fix the issue.

Both explorer and firefox still work and is what I swap to when the chrome starts playing up. I haven't found a fix online yet and was hoping someone here might know a fix.

Solution

That seems normal, given that it is chrome you are using.
I just checked mine, and when loading a page, the CPU usage goes up to 50-60%, but when the page is loaded it falls down to idle levels. Of course, it depends on the page itself, for example, pages with videos in them (youtube), flash player elements, javascript heavy pages, tend to load the cpu more than other simpler pages.

I think this is just Chrome, because Firefox isnt that resource intensive in general.
I really have no idea what it is, but I will try to help. Wait for more replies, someone might actually have the answer.

I would suggest that you uninstall chrome and make sure its all purged from the system, your settings, add-ons, history, cookies, everything. You can find how to do this with a quick google search, just keep in mind its not just a simple Uninstall Chrome from the "Remove programs and features" by windows, there are other settings stored in folders and registry that you need to purge as well.

Also, make sure that Chrome when configured, isnt using a proxy to connect to the internet. Dont use any add-ons and keep it as vanilla as possible. Do this for a while and see if it works properly.

The fact that your issue is fixed for a while when you uninstall it says something.
Here's a link on how to do this (just quickly googled it, you can find more on your own):
http://www.wintips.org/how-to-completely-uninstall-re-install-google-chrome/

Other than that I dont know, usually its add-ons or corrupt settings that cause these issues.

How old is the computer you are running google chrome on?

If it is a new system and you have over clocked the cpu in anyway.
Be it for a Amd FX based cpu or Intel based cpu.

Lower the over clock on the cpu Kamdeed.

The over clocking of the cpu when running Google chrome browser on your system causes it to crash and become unstable and not loading web pages right.

The second problem as to why google chrome does not load web pages you try to access is because the time, date and the year settings of the computer are set wrong.

This happens in a case where the cmos battery used on the motherboard to keep the correct current time, date and year settings for the real time clock of the motherboard is flat or out of voltage to retain the settings keeping them current.

This what you often find if the computer or motherboard of it is very old.

Basically go into the settings for chrome browser and reset all of the settings back to defaults.

When I orignally uninstalled chrome I did use "Remove programs and features", I'll try purging chrome from my system via following that link, as a last resort if no other solutions are suggested/work. Thanks

My pc is 3 years old, its got an I5-4670K (not overclocked), 16gb ram and a asus gtx 780. A while back my motherboard (ASUS GRYPHON Z87) was not displaying the correct date/time in the bios. But i was able to fix it by flashing the bios with an up-to-date version. Is it possible that maybe related to my problem, it was a few month before chrome started play up.

Also I notice when the pages aren't loading chrome does seem to use a large percentage of my cpu in the task manager (especially compared to fire fox). But my cpu is running at its default clock speed.
