I have been using Google Earth on this Win7 ultimate OS for a several years now without a problem.
Suddenly, about two weeks ago it refused to open, all that I got are two pop up windows.

The first pop up says: "G.E. cannot reach the log-in server to activate your account. Check your internet connection and try again"
Connection of course works fine, with VPN and without it, same result.

The second pop up (appears on its own a few seconds after the first one) says: " No connection to the data bank of G.E. could be established. The URL http://kh.google.com:80/ seems to be invalid, or the server may be temporarely unreachable."

I tried re-installing from stub... or the complete version... after a complete delete... and using a fresh download... several times. No difference.
(For some reason, even though I am in Asia, it always downloads the german version)

Does anyone have any idea? what is wrong? what I should be doing?

Also, the identical installation, same Win7 from same USB stick, same Google Earth installation file, still works on the laptop....

Thank you

Determine if GE is accessible from your location.

From the Command Prompt:

Try pinging "kh.google.com"

Then try "tracert kh.google.com"

If the tests are successful, then my thought is that the Google Earth app is likely corrupted or no longer applicable to your Win 7 OS.

Could be the download source at Google is not correctly linked: e.g., you get the German version.
