Google is Buying Provo's Existing Fiber Network for a Dollar

I admit I am a little sad to see the Utopia network go. It brought a lot of business to Utah.

But free internet after a connection fee? Nice. Though I am still sad to see this publicly funded project sold for one dollar. And that we still have to pay for it. Only to have it become a private project. Its fair but unfair. 39 million left in the project could fund school improvement for most of Utah.

I was pissed when the Utopia project was voted down. And now I'm more pissed that it turned out this way. Thanks Utah.

Everywhere I looked says it's $30 for Provo residents, the $300 is for other cities. The low amount seems to be part of the deal that Google is making with the city and not a set thing for every city.

Here in India we pay roughly 20$ per month for just 1Mbps
