As with every Google service, there is a lot of data collecting and with that some potential privacy issues. Google Maps is no different as there are several issues you need to know when using this service.
Still, not everything is doom and gloom as there are a few things you can do about it. Depending on if you are opening Google Maps on a desktop or on your mobile device, some things might be a little different, but not by much. Anyway, here is what you need to know and do regarding the Google Maps issues.
■ First, we’re going to disable the location tracking. Open the Google Maps app on your smartphone.
■ Tap on the menu icon (three horizontal lines)
■ Tap on Settings.
■ Tap on Google location settings.
■ Tap on Google Location History.
■ Now tap on the slider next to Use Location History, to turn it off.
■ Now we’re gonna check some other settings. Repeat step 2, and tap on Your Timeline.
■ Tap on the small three dots in the upper-right corner.
■ Tap on Settings.
■ In here, you have various settings you can tweak, but for now, scroll down to find Delete all Location History. Tap on it. This will delete all of your location history from your account collected over the use of the Google Maps. If you want to delete the location history from a specific date, use Delete Location History range option.
■ As already mentioned, there are several additional settings you can change, but with this service, the most important ones are location settings which we fixed (you can even turn off the Google Maps permission to never access your location, but the app might not be working properly then). At any rate, make sure you tweak the remaining settings to your satisfaction.
