May I ask why someone would purchase this with the lack of proper LTE and the incoming Nexus 5 launching soon?
Aside from the $299 for an unlocked phone with decent specs

Well, some versions of Samsung Galaxy S3 don't have LTE support, and it's selling like hotcakes, even today. Google is trying to give more choices to the customers, isn't that a good thing?

Yeah, T-Mobile currently sells the Galaxy S3 on its instalment plans with a $69.99 down payment in the US... Wouldn't that be a better deal, plus why would you purchase a "high end" phone without LTE? That's like getting a Ferrari without the tires that let it go faster than 100km/h?

Not everyone needs the speed of LTE. And, are we really getting the speeds of LTE? Some areas, where T-Mobile's DC-HSPA+ is faster than AT&T's LTE. Plus, LTE will suck even more on your battery, and your data consumption as well (except when you are using wifi or you have an unlimited data plan). Sure, you can have a Ferrari, even a Lamborghini or a Bugatti, but are you going to drive more than 200km/h on the streets? I doubt it.
