There is this great feature when typing in search requests in Google where, if you've typed it in before, it's revealed underneath where you can select it and hit Enter without having to type the whole thing again.

There is this one machine that has crossed my path that DOES NOT DO THIS.

I type in Media Player and go there & do whatever the customer wants. Come out of IE; and then remember we need something else. Go back to Google and type M expecting a "reveal" of M's uderneath, but nothing happens.

Would anyone know what would cause this "lack" of behavior?

That is not a google feature, it's an internet explorer feature called Auto Complete.

Go to 'Tools' - 'Internet Options' and click on the 'Content' tab. Then click on 'Auto Complete' and check the 'Forms' box. Now it will remember things you type in search engines.
