[citation][nom]Phishy714[/nom]NEWS: Chrome 19 is now available!I swear they pop these things out like crazy[/citation]
Yeah, remember when there were different types of releases. Version 2.0 would be a major update. Version 2.1 would be a collection of fixes and minor updates, and version 2.1.1 would be additional bug fixes. Now, Firefox and Chrome are getting a new version number ever couple weeks, which is ridiculous. I want a new major number when something good changes, not just when some timer at Google headquarters expires.

I don't understand the big deal about browser updates. I don't care to know if/when they're updated. Just keep it current, and working properly & I'm happy.

[citation][nom]kancaras[/nom]so many updates, browsers seem to be most imperfect software around. chrome especialy.. its version 14!![/citation]

so true, arbitrarily changing the version number to 2.1.1 would make it more reliable.

I like google chromes speed. But I dont like the lack of customization.. For me, its the simple things like having a bookmark button on the toolbar that is not a downloaded extension (dont want to add a whole bar for bookmarks). Being able to move such button anywhere on the toolbar. Having a highlight button just like the one on Google toolbar for FF and IE..

I find it interesting that google makes a toolbar for FF and IE that adds readily available options that in order to duplicate on their OWN browser, you have to do a ton of extra clicks... Example: highlight.. On FF, I have the google toolbar and the highlight option is on my screen, its always there. All I have to do is enter what I want and click the highlight button...thats it. Everything is on the surface of the browser. For Chrome, its nice it comes with the browser, but I have to ctrl-F (tbh, I dont like shortcuts) or hit the wrench, select "Find", then finally enter what I'm searching for.

These are just a few of the issues I have with chrome..

Oh, one last thing.. The one address bar is a complete waste of screen real-estate.. With FF, left side is address bar, right side google toolbar with all my readily available search options/highlights ect.

For a productivity individual like myself. I have to stick with FF(with google toolbar) until Chrome makes things easier to customize.

I don't get the big deal. People applaud Google for quickly releasing new versions with no changes but go hating on Mozilla for doing the same. *shrug*

I just don't get it....so other than the new features , that I don't use, is there anything truly necessary in it...security updates ect.

I'd rather have the choice to have the option of only getting the critical updates and not all the new worthless "features" they claim are in the new version.

@Hellbound "(tbh, I dont like shortcuts)" followed by "For a productivity individual like myself". If your big focus is productivity, I think you would become much more productive if you learn shortcuts instead of using a mouse.

Yeah.. It's just a new way of marketing a product.

But I am happy with Chrome.

I can't install new themes in this new version 🙁. When I click install somehow the download is automatically cancelled even if I'd turned my firewall/antivirus already. Why is that?
