Google search won't search

I have Google search on the toolbar of my Firefox browser. But it won't search. To search I have to go to the Google search site. How to avoid this extra step?

Don't have that.

I would remove the google toolbar. If you absolutely need it. Reinstall.

It's not the Google toolbar. Just the search box on Firefox, which is set for Google.

Then I would do a firefox reset. You could take the time to search through your addons and extensions but it is much faster to just reset firefox.

Help -> troubleshooting information -> Reset Firefox.

Alternatively you could always make a new profile and see if it works there...
