Question Google's "Files" app

I've just now learned that the Google app called "Files" (this one here) is not saved to the cloud. Is this information accurate?

If so, what are my options to save the contents of this app/folder to the cloud?

I would expect that any given app would be configured with a default target destination (drive and folder) for saved files.

Not sure what more information you need. I want to defend myself from the possibility of losing or someone stealing my phone. Therefore I need everything saved in the cloud on my google account as much as possible.

1. Google Photos is fine, because it's in the cloud
2. Google Files apparently is not fine, and I'm trying to find a way for me to save everything to Google Drive instead of Google Files. I know I can ask the chrome browser to save to GDrive instead of Files, but that's about it.

google files is just a file management for your phone.
