Hey guys,

I wanted a new cpu, the Intel core i7 4790k to replace my Intel core i5 4670k. I replaced my cpu and my pc won't boot up, I think my motherboard doesn't detect it for some reason. My PSU should be able to handle my processor. If I connect my i5 back it works fine, also my i7 is compatible with my motherboard, I got the gigabyte GA-Z87MX-D3H. Does anyone here know what I can do?

With kind regards,
Jason

Try clearing cmos or taking out the cpu make sure you have no thermal compound on the sockets underneath the cpu if there is then clean it and try again. Then try booting with cpu fan plugged in but not on the cpu. If it boots shut it down emidiatly and put thermal compound and place the fan it should then work

It still doesn't detect the cpu, if I try to boot up its like booting up without cpu even tho there is a cpu in there, there isn't anything wrong with the socket cause my i5 still works fine, also my bios is version f7 so it should be fine... But it isn't...
