One day I was downloading a copy of windows from The Pirate bay (I legally purchased a license and just wanted to download it from there) and my download speed was upwards of a MB/s when usually it is no more than 500KB/s. I thought this was crazy and watched in excitement as a 4GB download finished in under half an hour. My question is, Why did this happen and does that mean that I may be able to do something to ensure faster internet? I use AT&T broadband, the one through the phone line.

Solution
Download speeds very depending on the download source available upload speed, your ISP, your paid plan, any other devices using the internet, any other applications using the internet.

FYI don't torrent download windows, just download it from Microsoft. Torrents windows is not safe. why risk virus, spyware, or setting changed to where they can hijack your sytem. DONT DO IT....Get the official ISO from Microsoft.com

Tom's Hardware does not support any form of software piracy. None. Period.

There is no reason to get an ISO via Pirate Bay (or similar sources) if you have a legitimate product key. There are safe, legit sources for that.
