Ok, so Im replacing my cpu/mobo combo in my computer next week. Going from an old FX 6100 to an i5 7500. Also going from 4gb of DDR3 to 16gb of DDR4. So whats that got to do with GPUs? Well I dont have the budget to upgrade the GPU right now. I currently have a Radeon HD7770. In 6 months or so I will be going to a GTX1060. So whats the question you ask? This is the stupid part... Which is more powerful? The HD7770 or the integrated graphics in the i5 7500? I question if the tech in the 7770 is so old that the integrated stuff in the higher end cpu could potentially outperform it. Just wondering which might be better for the 6 month span between upgrades. I dont really have a lot of games to play at this moment as I literally just sold my X1 to fund this upgrade and move from console gaming to PCs. Might pick up a copy of GTA5 and will continue to play Diablo 3, but thats about all for the moment.

The HD 7770 is not a bad card, in fact it was a gaming card when new. A budget gaming card to be sure, but still a gaming card. As such, it's going to beat using integrated graphics in gaming. It should handle D3 well enough, don't think GTA V will do as well.

Unsolicited advice: Build your computer and install Windows AND update Windows using the integrated graphics, add the 7770 last after you see everything works. It's best to build your computer using minimal parts, so in case you have issues you'll be able to identify the problem easier.

I appreciate the input from both of you. I know the 7770 works well with D3 (max settings on 1080 @ 55~60fps) as I have had this card for 4 years now. I dont forsee myself reformatting everything and reinstalling windows however. I got Win10 the first day the free upgrade was available and dont have a media backup of it. According to Game-Debate, my current system should run GTAV on medium settings. Again thanks for the input.
