I've got an old Toshiba tv which has Phono, Component/RGB and VGA inputs, but apparently the VGA input can only work at up to 50hz. I've looked about and even my 2008-built Windows XP pc outputs at 60hz or above. I can't imagine how old/rubbish a graphics card must have been to work with the TV!

My question though is whether there's such thing as a VGA to RBG phono adaptor that would work and allow me to use the TV as a monitor. I have run a PS3 through it succesfully so it must be able to handle it?

Thanks

You can probably find an LCD TV with HDMI input off Craigslist, at a Goodwill store or similar for the price of an adapter. They will deliver a much better picture.

Sometimes you can use a VGA to Component (YPbPr) adapter. Seems to be hit or miss. HDMI to YPbPr adapters will work better. Just make sure it is HDMI to YPbPr not YPbPr to HDMI.
