Question Got frame drops? Try this...

I ran across this a bit by accident. I had an unrelated issue being caused by my desktop theme changing background picture and accent color every few minutes based on the default setting for that theme. I recently started having an issue in game where I would get this very regular massive lag and frame drop. I turned off the ability of the theme to change the (background) picture and accent color more than once a day and the issue seems resolved.

I obviously don't have a sample of use cases that prove this is or is not anything, but probably worth trying.

I had an issue some time back where while I was working on (the same machine) and renaming files that it would jump out of the "rename box" and error ding on me for the keys typed afterward. That issue resolved when I changed those times and it came to mind on this current issue resolved by the same.
