Hey!
So I Just received my New Gigabyte GA-B85m-HD3 Mobo, it's great btw. So I was looking at it as I do not have the CPU yet to put in it, and i lightly touched the plastic CPU cover. I'm now concerned the CPU Pins are broken?
Am I fine? Has it protected it assuming that's what it should do? It's was quite a light touch - Was still in it's anti-static bag.
Thanks!

Solution
The socket cover is there to protect the pins. As long as you didn't feel the cover move your probably be ok. Just be sure not to open the latches until your ready to install the CPU.
And hold on to that cover after your build is done! If you have to return your motherboard for warranty service, they wont accept it if that cover is missing.

this must be one of the most secrets ways to increse sales as there no instructions almost anywhere online or a good video on how to replace the plastic cover back. nobody cares as for sure it is not often that you have to send the motherbaord back but i guess it happend so then why there is no info anywhere about this ??? how do you place the plastic cover back not to mention GIGABYTE AND ASUS must be different are they ?

It happened to me too. why this plastic cover has those pins below ?
they go directly to the gold pins if you place it wrong ??? and the chances are 2 to 1.
this is the more on purpose design to increase sales and make the product easy to get damage.
everything to make sales up!
whoever design this cover had a weird dark mind and knew this could happen.
