I just got a 1TB SSD for christmas as I am a PC gamer. I want to put my OS on it for faster start times and such. I also want to put all of my most played games on there (add up to about 400GBs). I would also like to make it my primary storage somehow so every time i download a game, it will automatically go to my SSD and not HDD. I would like to keep my HDD for documents, pictures, videos, etc. Many programs do not migrate/clone the OS from HDD to SSD for free. I would love to avoid the whole "put windows on cd/usb" option because thats a lot of hassle. I got windows 10 by the free upgrade from 7.1 so i have the digital download rights, not the product key. The SSD is samsung and came with samsung magician, but that does not migrate/clone. I copied the files by selecting copy and past from HDD to SDD, but I want the games to play from SSD for faster load times and such.

Specific steps for a successful clone operation:
-----------------------------
Verify the actual used space on the current drive is significantly below the size of the new SSD
Download and install Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration, if a Samsung SSD)
Power off
Disconnect ALL drives except the current C and the new SSD
Power up
Run the Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration)
Select ALL the partitions on the existing C drive
Click the 'Clone' button
Wait until it is done
When it finishes, power off
Disconnect ALL drives except for the new SSD
This is to allow the system to try to boot from ONLY the SSD
Swap the SATA cables around so that the new drive is connected to the same SATA port as the old drive
Power up, and verify the BIOS boot order
If good, continue the power up

It should boot from the new drive, just like the old drive.
Maybe reboot a time or two, just to make sure.

If it works, and it should, all is good.

Later, reconnect the old drive and wipe as necessary.
Delete the 450MB Recovery Partition, here:

Cone the drive, unplug the old drive, plug in the SSD in it's place, should be all you need to do.

My SSD is now 100% clone of the HDD but the OS is still running off the HDD. will swapping the cables fix that problem too? I put my SSD as 1st boot device in bios but when it booted it was on the HDD
