got some new parts now something is terribly wrong.

Hi. After fiddling a little with my pc including installing a new psu and gpu the performance is so bad there must be something fundamentally wrong.
when i open dota 2 i get 1fps. the computer also seems more sluggish when opening none graphical programs.

parts list: Dell motherboard
rx460 gpu
evga bronze power 500watt
intel i7 920 2,67ghz
arctic cooler extreme freezer
nzxt s340 cabinet
os: ubuntu

noteworthy stuff: i dropped the hard drive when i was building. maybe i broke it? I got something something cmos error when i first booted. i do not currently have a cmos battery installed.

Any and all ideas would be much appreciated

Everything you mentioned could be a big deal. Would start with a new CMOS battery as they're cheap if that doesn't fix it jump to the hard drive. (You can run SMART to check drive health it might show a problem)

Are you sure you have the correct GPU drivers installed?

What version of Ubuntu? Had you previously been using integrated graphics? Have you tried installing AMD's proprietary driver?

It is version 16.04.

i am currently isntaling the propriatery drivers, but i dont think that alone is the problem, as the open source driver are quite decent these days.
