I downloaded my boot software from a Windows 7 computer for my Windows 10 PC. The issue is I need to activate Windows via product key. I got through it twice, but in order to customize my PC I need an activation key.

First of all, can I get the activation key from a Windows 7 PC, and if I can how do I?

Thanks

you have to buy a key for the new pc. windows 7/8 or 10. you cant use vendor version of windows 7 for oem. if the version of 7 you have is retail. you have to take the old pc out of service and then call ms and have them register the new pc using the retail copy of 7 you have.

I got Windows 10 Pro, so there's no way I'm spending 140 dollars just to get more personalization. Is there a loophole around this?

No, there is no 'loophole'. A windows license costs what it costs.

Wait, there are a couple of loopholes - Starting with Ubuntu

Yup, completely correct. And I just got myself activated too by turning off license manager.
