Governments way of helping business

I just read a story the other day, maybe it was here or maybe it was somewhere else - I am not sure. The bottom line was Amazon is planning to move warehouses into states that will require them to tax online purchases. Their goal is to provide one day shipping by moving into these states (I believe PA and CA were first on the list.)

I live in PA and in all honesty I don't mind paying tax on items I buy from Amazon (or elsewhere for that matter.) I've had it good for years with no tax on items and even with a few extra pennies per dollar tacked on I'll still have it good. Buying things online - no gas, very little time spent running from store to store - awesome. At the end of the day, even with tax, Amazon is significantly cheaper ($2.50 for a cable on Amazon vs. $20 at Wal-Mart anyone?), easier, and more convenient than any brick and mortar store out there.

These is for your own good to be healthy!

I think Bloomberg is doing it wrong.

Basic economics...to limit a certain economic activity, you tax the crap out of it.

That way, the state get money for health/whatever...and those who want their sugary drinks can have their 64 ounce'r...at a price that will limit them.
