My GPRS icon won't show up. When I turn the phone on it shows a line
but then disapears. I have tried removing the SIM and battery. The
only way I can get the GPRS signal to show up is use my wifes SIM. Any
help on what needs to be done to get this back would be appreciated.
Cingular support is no help at all.

What phone are you using? What does the icon look like? On a SonyEricsson
phone, there is a triangle. If it is solid color, then that means you are
fully attached. If it is an outline (not filled in with solid color), then
it sees GPRS but does not attach to the service. In the latter case, you
need to have customer service reset your account to make sure it is active.
If there is no triangle at all, it doesn't even see GPRS service. Your
phone may be roaming on something other than Cingular if that is the case.

Other manufacturer's phones may indicate attachment differently.

I've had GPRS going on and off for the past month, to the point where
Cingular changed my phone number and created a new account from scratch to
get it working again.

I would lose my GPRS indicator completely... Cingular support is of no help
until you choose the option on the support line to cancel your account, then
they'll go out of their way to correct the problem.

Unfortunately, they still have a ah heck of a time correcting the problem.
Even with the new phone number/account, I lose GPRS at least once a week.
Just keep bugging support.
