Is it possible to make phonecalls using the GPRS networks, instead of the traditional gsm? (I live in Europe ;) ) I believe it is, but I don't know any operator that provides such services...

as far as i know telephony over GPRS is not offered anywhere, bubut i could be wrong

but using GPRS is an awful lot more expensive, because all you would be doing is wasting bandwidth in the network, where as normal telephony requires very little.

Don't see why one would need to. GSM is fine for that. I think all networks charge per data usage rather than time on GPRS as well, which can be pretty expensive.
