Question GPT drive problem

last time I booted my desktop I got beep, beep etc. I found the problem is my D: drive. which was formated to gpt. I booted without it and attached it as a usb drive. I was using it to install my programs to as my C: drive is a SSD.
Now It shows up without a size. Using a partition program it shows a 2tb partition and almost 2tb unallocated. And I cant access it. I tried recovering files off it but they are not what they were labeled. It appears to me that the drive thinks its a mbr drive not a gpt. Is there any way to fix it Other than reformate it?

I don't understand the logic here.
why would you want to avoid installing programs to this C: drive because it is SSD?

Because its small 120GB. I only Boot from it and have some important programs on it. However that doesnt answer my problem.

What does it shows in Disk Management and Device Manager ?
Can you run a disk testing program?

I think I've seen a similar case in a recent thread.

That is usually because your sata to usb adapter uses different sector size than normal internal sata controller.
To use a drive with such adapter, it has to be re-partitioned/reformatted on this adapter.
So - adapter is not suitable for data recovery, if drive was partitioned/formatted on internal sata controller.

Turn on hot plug feature in BIOS for sata port, where problematic drive will be connected.
And connect it after windows has been started already.

Disk managment shows all the drives names no sizes, divice management shows the drve as a 4tb. My Pc shows that drive but no sizes. This is while plugged into my desktop. Plugged into a usb port with adaptor, shows the same. Recovering with disk drill shows files but not anything as normal. Disk drill shows 92453 files 1.92tb o lost partition. Contains found files 12297, Deep scan Fat32 7849, Reconstructed 43489, Reconstructed Labeled 28818,

Problem Solved:
I put it back in the computer, its a HP mini desktop. I booted and got the beep beep etc. I then unplugged it and booted it then put that drive back on the bus. Computer management couldnt find it t all although a partition manager did. I then rebooted without it to check the boot order but didnt see any way in the bios to do that, so I swapped the drive cable from the C drive to the D drive and it came up but was labeled F drive. I then changed it to D drive and all is good reported a 4tb drive and all my links now work. Very strange.
