I am currently using a 3400g, which suprisingly works ok, but just barely, with a fair amount of compromises. With AMD and NVIDIA set to launch their next generation of cards soon, looking to upgrade. Plan is to get a current generation GPU on sale after the newest shiny things have launched. I have a 1080/75 Hz FreeSynch display, so my target is most any game at 60-75 fps at 1080 very high/ultra. I am looking specifically at 5600 XT, 1660 Super, or 2060 KO. I kind of prefer AMD, but have heard about driver issues and am pretty agnostic, whatever provides the best value and want to keep my budget under $250, which should be reachable I would think after Ampere and RDNA2/Big Navi (?) come out. I also plan on upgrading to a 3600 cpu later on to take full advantage gpu ability, and I think it will free up PCIE lanes, more cores, etc.. Think any will be fine with my 550 w PSU.
Games are primarily single player with the odd MMO (and will probably get into the upcoming MS Flight Sim), no first person shooters, hence, 60-75 fps max is fine with me, just want all the eye candy.
Any thoughts?
Currently I have:
3400g
MSI B450 gaming plus
8x2 GB 3200 MHz ram
M.2 SSD, 2.5" SSD and HDD
Corsair 550 watt PSU, 80 Bronze
Cheap case, but with good airflow and intake/exhaust fans.
Thanks!
