GPU Airflow & Temps

Just purchased an EVGA 1060 6g single fan gpu and installed into a Corsair 200r case.

I have 2 front intake fans, 1 side intake, 2 top exhaust and 1rear exhaust. All fans are 120mm. I previously had a gtx 550ti with no side fan and no problems (70 max after hours gaming) but installed the side hoping to further cool the 1060.

My CPU is running max 45c under load and 25-27c at idle. No problem there. However, the gpu rockets to 80c within seconds, even in the start menu of a game. It doesn't go higher. I have Afterburner set to 80c.

I know 80c might be ok but I'm concerned about the huge discrepancy between the cpu and gpu (40c difference) and how fast it reaches it.

Should I change fan configuration? Replace thermal paste on gpu with mx-4? A pci cooler? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thats typical for this card-after seeing a few reviews they mostly hit high 70s and that was in a well ventilated case/environment. If you are that concerned about temps depending on the type of game you're playing you could always set an FPS cap to limit the load on the card.

The problem with limiting fps is that the card is hitting 80c before I've even logged in to play. At the game splash screen it's already there. If it hit 80 during heavy gaming I wouldn't worry about it but in the character selection screen I watch it go from 55 to 80 in under a minute. Meanwhile, the cpu is at 35c.Just seems odd.
