Below are my current specs, looking for a good budget CPU and GPU upgrade (I will be adding more memory), for the GPU I was thinking the GTX 1060? It's still a tad pricey but a food card nonetheless ... As always thanks.

Mobo: Z170A SLI Plus
CPU: i3-6100 3.70GHz (Skylake)
Memory: Kingston HyperX FURY Black 8GB 2133MHz DDR4
GPU: Radeon R7 370
Power Supply: EVGA 600 B1, 80+ BRONZE 600W

Solution
If you want to keep the motherboard then I think this one should be the best onehttps://www.amazon.com/Intel-I7-6700-FC-LGA14C-Processor-BX80662I76700/dp/B0136JONG8

How about your budget? Let me know how much you can afford for the CPU.

7th gen CPUs can be used with the same motherboard… but you may need to flash BIOS sometimes

For the GPU GTX 1060 is fine choice indeed.

That's a bit out of my budget, I would say $200.00 max is what I could afford for a CPU, I mean I am currently running an i3 Skylake with pretty good success so ...... any decent i5's out there?

you may get luck on ebay and find a used i5 6400 or 6500 non K CPU for that price but the price of intel CPU's do not depreciate much over time

i5 7400 will be a good option over 6400 check it

If not go for this.. much cheaper

I'm ok with the i5 6600 or the i7 6700 ... yes my MOBO will take the new gen with a BIOS upgrade but realistically and financially wouldn't it be cheaper if I just went with the i5 6600 or the i7 6700? If so what model 6600 and 6700 do you like?

there is no real different between 6th and 7th other then the 7th gen CPU's are clocked a bit higher. the 6600 and 6700 are both good choices but the i7 6700 would be good for future proofing

UPDATE

So I just purchased a slightly used 17-6700K and a new RX 580 8GD5 GPU, my question is this, what heat sink and fan do you recommend for the CPU? Thanks all for your assistance.
