Gpu at 100C?!

Hello! I have a 9600GT in a HP 8200 ELITE CMT PC. I was having lags, i checked the GPU temps.. 109 Degrees?! Celsius?! It went down, right now its at 100C. It is cooled ONLY by a heatsink, no fan :[

Is that normal? Need help ASAP!

That is boiling lava hot. Clean your PC of dust and make sure there is nothing restricting airflow to the graphics card including poor routed cables.

If your GPU has no fan and reaches 100C, you need better case airflow around the GPU to compensate.

100C is way too high. If you can, try to orient your case fans so that cool air is blown on the GPU.

Hey !

To answer your question, yes these are normal temps for a GPU without a fan to provide airflow to the heatsink. If you do not feel safe having you card at these temps you can download a Graphics Card Overclocking Utility in order to adjust the target temperature for your GPU.

Forgot to say that these temps were ONLY on MINECRAFT.. A really low demanding game..

Only a heatsink is bad, as nothing is cooling the heatsink.

You should try to find a used GTX 750ti

8000 and 9000 GPUs did run unnaturally hot. Most were rated to 105C. Still way too warm if you ask me.

If you don't want to spend anything, or much at all. Just zip tie a fan to it.

Only 80$, And in Euros, it will be much cheaper! + Its not used..

I was going to recommend the GTX 740 initially but figured the 750ti would be the better money spent. I wouldn't go any higher than that though do to the power constraints of HP's not so awesome PSU's
