So I have a Sapphire R9 270X Dual-X OC Boost and when i start a game the software shows the temperature rising like crazy even when still at the menu and the fans go to 80% and while playing they max out. But when i close the game the temperature drops the same way (at about 2 or 3 degrees per second, in a matter of seconds it goes from 90 to 60 degrees).

Why am I getting those numbers and my fans spinning so fast while playing games like Lif Demo from Steam.

Is that hardware or software related?

Solution
Thats how it should behave and ia normal once you close the game the gpu load will go down to nearly nothing
Although 80c is high for 270x

Have you overlooked the gpu?
Also have many fans do you have on the case

The thing is how can the card go from 50 to 80 degrees Celsius while opening a game (until the menu shows) in a matter of 15s or so.

I have a fan at the front and another at the back, I still think it's weird because it doesn't get to the part where it has to work hard which is playing the game itself, it gets to those temperatures while loading the game.
Is that really normal?

Thanks for the help so far.

Very easilythe talking about the temperature of a chips only a few cm in size
