So in early December I changed my old AMD phenom ll x6 cpu, gigabyte ultra durable mobo and ddr3 ram to an intel i5 8600k, msi gaming pro mobo and ddr4 vengence ram, along with a clean install of windows.
Since then i've noticed that every now and then say if i have youtube playing in the background and i boot up a game like those in the title, the audio freezes (and you get that brrrrrrrrt sound), then the sound for the game will stop, i have to then restart it to get the sound back.
So i check task manager to find that my GPU usage is at 99% in BF1 (which i can kinda understand but with my old processor it was never that high, the graphics settings also make no difference to this), PUBG, which hammers my CPU too 🙁 and also fortnite, which has completely bamboozled me.
Why does fortnite use 99% of my GPU, Which is a EVGA gtx 970 SC. As a comparison, sat right now with chrome, steam, the epic games launcher open, its using about 1-2% of the GPU.
Im almost certain there is something wrong somewhere to cause this, the only thing i can think of atm is to turn vsync on so that the framerate is limited to 120fps.
Temps are fine, idel without the gpu fans it runs about 65°C, With a fan curve, temps are kept around 35-45°C
Any ideas? I saw on the PUBG steam forum someone was talking about a common problem that causes 99% usage is some registry problem, kinda hope that doesnt apply to me since the registry is a goddamn scary place man.
