[SOLVED] GPU being bottlenecked?

My 2080 is acting like a 2060.

specs:
i7-8700 @ 4.28Ghz
Asus TUF B365m gaming plus
Apacer 16GB (2x8) 2666Mhz
Corsair RM650
Cooler Master ML360
Colorful RTX 2080 Neptune (AIO water cooled)

My CPU is non k. My RAM is only 2666, and only 16GB. My motherboard is 22nm and apparently B365 is worse than B360 which is even cheaper.

is anything wrong? Thanks

Here some of my results with a 7700/2080/16gb 3000mhz ram. So a slightly lesser cpu with the same gpu tier.

Timespy - gfx - 11,194 cpu - 4773 score - 9314.
With xmp and a very slight gpu oc, +100 core and +500 mem. Cpu - 5108 gfx - 12009 score - 9985. I'm sure I could finally break 10k with a few more minor gpu tweaks.

Firestrike - gfx - 27601 com - 7361 phy - 12232 score - 18860.
With xmp and the same gpu oc. Gfx - 29164 com - 7889 phy - 12558 score - 19866. Again 20k probably easily with a few tweaks. (Quick edit. Timespy final score with +125/+1000 is 10195, firestrike score 20245!)

Yours does seem a touch low, but certainly not terrible.

Edit: misread your results. For some reason I read 8980 not 9980. So your score is actually...

Timespy is a gpu benchmark, so ram size/speed, cpu, cpu OC etc really doesn't come into play. Nor does the motherboard really.

score - 9985
After a +100/+500 OC.

Both with RTX2080.

I fail to see how the gpu is acting like a 2060, unless it's an upgrade from a lower power gpu, and you thought it would magically increase fps a lot. Doesn't work that way. Gpu has nothing to do with fps, that's all cpu. The only thing the gpu can do is live upto the cpu set fps or fail.
