Okay, so I had just purchased a MSI GTX 1080 DUKE OC for $580 (with $30 rebate). Now I had just seen today, that the EVGA GTX 1080 SLC is at $590. Should I return the Duke card and get the EVGA or is the 1080 DUKE a decent card for that price?

P.S: I only bought the Duke card, because it was one of the cheapest I could find. Until the EVGA hit PCPARTPICKER.

Well, I have heard and read that some people have had the Duke card thermal throttle, even with more aggressive fan curves, than the stock fan curve. Cause I also heard/read the stock fan curve is pretty bad.. But not terrible. I really only bought a card atm, because my 960 is going out, and needed something pretty quick, but not outrageously priced. But also wanted a big upgrade.

To add to the comment above; I also wanted an MSI card cause my Motherboard is MSI, and like using the Gaming app for both my GPU and CPU. The only problem was the thermal throttling part.

that is definitely something to consider. usually, that happens because of improper or lack of fans/airflow, not because the card can't cool itself. I would think that any multiple fan card can keep itself cool under most conditions that it will encounter

Okay, thank you. I do have the S340 case by NZXT with the 240MM rad in the front. and 140 fan on top, and 120 in the back (Be quiet fans, except for noctua on the 240mm rad). I have set my own fan curve on all fans, that I am happy with, and the card will fit. Even if it is 12.28 inches xD lol. But I may or may not send it back. I'll have to decide by monday (when it gets delivered).

Thank you again for your answer though, mate.
