Few days ago I bought a Sapphire R7 250 1GD5 (1 year used). Just after I bought it, I tried running NFS Rivals which ran beautifully at Max Settings on 900p and the average temperature was like 85-90C. The day after that I took out the gpu and gave it a nice cleaning as it was quite old and filled with dust. But to my surprise, after I put it back together and booted everything and tried running NFS Rivals again, it lagged horribly.
Next I ran OpenHardwareMonitor and ran Rivals again and the max temperature the gpu ever hitted in the 20 mins of playtime was 65C.
I know this is actually good for my GPU's health but I still would prefer performance.
I don't really understand what could cause this. So how do I make it work like that again?
Also, when I was putting the gpu back together, I didn't have thermal paste so I just placed the heat sink on the old one, could that be the reason?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.
