GPU case compatibility

I saw a build with a Zotac gtx 980 ti amp extreme edition and a CM Storm Trooper case. I was wondering how he made it work considering it says the max length GPU the case can fit inside is 12.7in when the GPU is 12.9in. Do you know if any modifications would have to be made to the case or card? Here is the build ( https://pcpartpicker.com/b/C73Ff7 ) it doesn't look like the case or GPU was modified to make it work. How would you go about doing a similar build with the same case and GPU?

Look for a 980ti that only use's two fans or just one blower style fan.

Lol that is a giant case. Any GPU will fit, might have to remove drive cages but it will never be a problem.
