GPU causing system to freeze?

I have a R9 280X in my system however after about 15 minutes of the system being on it will freeze, audio and screen will freeze.
On the system the card is identified as "R9 200 Series card"

I put a GT710 in the system and had no issues at all.

What could be wrong with the card that is causing it too freeze?

Full system specs please, including PSU. As already has been said, it might be because your PSU isn't powerful enough to power the power-hungry card, if that makes sense.

16GB ddr4 2666Mhz
evga supernova 850W

Power supply is good, so it's probably a defective GPU.
