GPU "Clicking" at low fan speeds

I have a 1070 Strix.

When using MSI Afterburner, I have it set for more aggressive fan speeds.

However, when the fan speeds would normally be off, Afterburner keeps trying to force them on, while they force themselves off. It causes this weird "clicking" sound, exactly like an old hard drive, each time the fans try to start up again.

I can fix it easily by disabling custom fan profiles. But is there a way to fix this while keeping a custom profile?

Hi, just set your fan speed to 0 in the fan curve. Also, make sure 'user-defined' setting is enabled. If it doesn't work, it could mean MSI Afterburner has compatibility issues with your GPU. Try ASUS's software.

OK, I don't seem to get it, or at least as much, with the ASUS software. THought the ASUS software kinda sucks.

If you're worried about noise and temps, why not have someone remove the stock paste and use good quality paste on your GPU?

Also, flash the newest GPU BIOS. Old ones can cause problems. Use GPU-Z to find your BIOS version.

I'm using Kryonaut and my BIOS version is the latest, as there doesn't seem to have been any new ones released. (STRIX-OC)

Use the latest version MSI AB. Make sure you have set the curve properly by setting it again (once I had set it to 1% speed instead of 0).

If that doesn't fix it, mess around with 'fan speed update period'. Also, set your 'Temperature Hysteresis' to zero.

Temps below 80c should be perfectly fine. Also installing a fan working at max (connected to PSU) next to it is much better than playing around with the curve
