I Have a EVGA GeForce GTX 730, which does not have a fan, just a heat sync. I am noticing that the card is more than capable of running allot of games in high if not ultra settings but it gets extremely hot when doing so (maxing at the 96 Celsius mark) I am already buying better system fans because i wanted different color leds then what i had and will be going from 2 40 CFM 120mm fans (1 in 1 out) to 3 64.4 CFM 120 mm fans (1 in 2 out). will this 112 CFM overall (88 CFM out) make a enough of a difference to the overall case temp that it lowers my GPU or do i also need to look at an aftermarket fan and heatsync for the card?

Firstly , your card is GT 730 and not GTX 730. Its a basic lower segment card, that's why you don't see any fan on it. No , you can't run the latest games in Ultra or high settings, you'd be lucky if it runs on even the lowest settings. Which games are you running and what resolution. No , you don't need a aftermarket cooler , that won't help the performance because your card is not meant to run the games your trying to.

I never said the "latest" games i said allot of games. I am running Star Wars the Old Republic and Starcraft 2 both on High settings with zero problem, its only when i take it above high that I start to see temperatures get in the 90's, not sure what resolution they are running at the moment id have to load one up to check it, and im not going to because I'm not having performance issues, I am having temperature issues.

In that case, you can check the GPU for dust. Ensure proper ventilation around the GPU.If and only If you card is out of warranty you can check for the thermal paste , i am sure it would've worn off if your card is old. You can't install any aftermarket cooler on the 730. Fixing the thermal paste and cleaning might help. Also check the Idle temps of the GPU , if the idle temps are also high , games might not be culprit.

Its not an old card, ive hard the whole rig brand new for 11 days. It idles at 40-45 dont know if thats normal. and why could i not put an aftermarket cooler on it? small heatsync with fan using a 3/4pin connector. new egg is chaulk full of cooling fans supposedly designed for small form nvidia cards.

After googlin up a bit, GT 730 max temp is 98 C , so you need not to worry. Idle temps are good.
As far as the fans are concerned ,where do you think you'll put the fan. You just cant remove the stock heatsink and put the fan where ever you like. You need to have threads for the screws. GPU manufacturers have placed the heat sink where they have tested the gpu vigorously , its not a good idea to put anything over it except the heatsink. As i've said earlier, 730 is entry level GPU , the reason they haven't put a fan there , because it doesn't need one. Also, the fan you mentioned will not fit with 730.

i just posted it as an example of advertised for nvidia cards, this modem made by other manufacturers come with fans instead of solid heatsyncs as well as other EVGA 730's and i doubt there i much difference in the cards. Im going to do some more research to see if there is a viable option if not then oh well.
