[SOLVED] GPU crashes PC

Hey there,

A few months ago I had this problem where my pc sometimes crashed which I noticed was from high GPU usage (80-100% during browsing internet for example).

I ran WhoCrashed and it showed me that there were problems with "watchdogs.sys" and reported a VIDEO_SCHEDULER_INTERNAL_ERROR.
At that time I fixed things for a while (till the next gpu updates through Geforce Experience 'cause I have a RTX 2070) using DDU and manually re-installing the driver.

Recently the same problem started again: my pc did not crash yet 'cause I just shut it down or restarted it, but I'm almost sure the problem is the same (because whenever my GPU hits 80-100% usage, my Computer starts slowing down and taking "long times" for the most basic actions such as changing browser windows or clicks).

Hence my question: should I try contacting the reseller and get warranty coverage over it or shall I keep the GPU and keep using DDU whenever the problem occurs?

I was was also facing crash issues no lagging but crash and I tried these solutions may be it can help if gpu is making problem.

  1. Turned off the: PCI Express Link State Power Management
  2. Selected Maximum Performance from Nvidia Control Panel
  3. Fan speed permanently on 40%
  4. Disabled Hardware Acceleration from Photoshop, Illustrator and MS Office
  5. Check the box in Internet Option: Use software rendering instead of GPU
  6. Saw this on youtube don't if it is really worth or not but I did it also: Put HDMI connector into GPU HDMI cable and then immediately remove it and repeat it 10 to 15 times so that if there is any dust inside GPU HDMI port it could be removed.
Yesterday I did all of above 6 steps I really don't know...
Sorry, I forgot to explain the "crash process".

Whenever the GPU hits the unexplainable 80-100% usage, my PC starts lagging and taking lots of time to answer to very basic commands (clicks, windows switch, etc.)

Previous to DDU, I did HDD and SSD and RAM and CPU stress tests, but nothing reported any error.

First of all try to do clean install, do not install any other thing nothing else and do benchmark on firestrike or play any game to figure out if the problem is with gpu or any software installed is causing issue.

If you cannot do clean install simply try gpu on any other system to check the root cause of issue.

Yes, I already did a clean install (with DDU).

Some times we have software installed like adobe applications, ms office etc.. they use gpu for faster performance and cause crash even if you don't use them still they can be cause of crash. As you said pc lags on above 80% usage your ram can be faulty, psu can be faulty, ssd or hard drive can be faulty. So its better first you put this gpu into another pc and confirm that either problem is in gpu or any other component.
