GPU crashing and loud squeaking noise coming from inside brand new pc, usually during heavy workloads.

I have a new Asus pc with a amd fx 8 core CPU, a r7 240 2gb GPU (I know not the best at all) and 8gb of ram. I am using windows 8.1. So this brand new computer was not some cheap crap, but for some reason usually during heavy loads I hear a loud squeaking coming from inside the desktop, and it sounds like it could be mechanical, like a fan, but the weird thing is the video adapter will crash, or sometimes the whole GPU.

Sometimes on stock settings and under normal loads the GPU will still crash but without the loud noise.

The noise is almost sudden, loud, and wont stop until the computer has been shut off for a few seconds.

I don't know what is going on. Honestly I have checked inside the PC's larger side vent and I cant see any visible damage or things like a cord stuck inside a fan.

If I sent the PC (which is still under warranty) to ASUS will they fix the problem without me having to pay?
Also, if the GPU is replaced and they don't use a r7 240 like I have is it going to be worse in performance? That would suck.

Okay, btw I think the radeon r7 240 was released in 2012 or 2013 what happens if they don't have that GPU anymore?
I would assume they would just replace it with whatever is equal to or better in performance, but most gpus would need more wattage than my PSU can output.

They would be equal to or better.

The R7 240 is still available so you will be fine.

Hold on. Stop.

Do you have ANY friends/family with a compatible computer for the card. If so try the card in their pc.

What you described sounds more like PSU then GPU problem. So I wouldn't go upgrading your GPU until your sure it is the GPU.

As for warranties... Send it back if you can. But you may have to pay for shipping depending on warranty. I would call them. Also keep in mind RMA can take weeks/months.

A local computer repair shop, or tech usually will charge $50-$100 to find and identify a problem. That might also be a good option as you don't have to RMA only for them to send it back saying we couldn't find anything wrong.

Yes but I don't want to take two computers apart just to test a card. I was already thinking about upgrading the card as I found one that uses less wattage for 20x the performance (msi gtx 750 ti low profile). If I take the card out I might as well replace it, but whatever.

I am still trying to find what part of the computer this is, and I have thought about PSU, but the psu seems to run fine. When the noise is made it doesn't always crash. Usually what happens is that the GPU will freeze for a few seconds and windows says "Windows display driver has stopped working" or something like that. Also the GPU / games acts slow before it freezes.

I'm not sure on the exact card you have, but if you are able to see it while it runs, can you verify it's not a fan? Seems like a fan noise, seems like it would make the noise under the highest load when maybe the fan ramps up speed?
